This is a holiday movie classic! Most kids today don't realize it but at one time, (not too long ago), It's a Wonderful Life used to be on almost 24 hours a day! It became a standard holiday tradition to try and watch it as many times as you could--even though you wouldn't admit it! Endless jokes would be made about how many stations would have it on and how often. A personal favorite of mine is a "Cheers" episode where they all stand around talking about how 'sappy' this movie is and that they hate the fact that it's on all the time. They then proceed to watch the ending--not once, but twice! Everyone of them ends up in tears as the cast of the movie sings, "Auld Lang Syne".
In case you are not familiar with the movie, George Bailey is a small town boy that try as he might, just can't live the life that he thinks he was meant to live. In a desperate moment, he utters the statement, "I wish I had never been born". With that, his guardian angel, Clarence Oddbody AS2 (angel second class), shows George what life would've been like for his family and friends if he had not been born. What George Bailey finds out is that he has touched the lives of the towns' people in ways that he never knew. He finally realizes that his is truly a 'Wonderful Life'.
